During the time of the Song and Ming Dynasties, Confucians’ repulsion to Buddhism was carried out in such a thorough fashion and on such a grand scale. If the repulsion of early Song focused on the level of race,ethic and society, those Confucians who came later brought to the next level, they thoroughly criticized Buddhism from the perspectives of cosmology, mind-nature theory, self-cultivation and ethics. However,Confucians of the Ming Dynasty presented a tolerant repulsion to Buddhism.
