| 摘要 | In the past religion and art went hand in hand – when combined with Post modernism -the result is most astonishing. Buddhism in search of an expanded global presence is applying innovative methods. The paper will discuss the ambitious Indian, ‘Maitreya Project’ in context. Questions related to its stated purpose and entrepreneurial, religious, and aesthetic aspects will be raised. Among the project’s many secular and non-secular constructions is the world’s largest Buddha image. Central to our discussion is the policy and uniquely state-of-the-art computer-generated techniques employed in creation of the 500feet tall Maitreya statue now 3 years into its making. |
