| 摘要 | In each era, richly developed religious traditions respond from within their own resources to the needs and challenges of the times. Contemporary interest in humanistic values is eliciting positive responses from within certain circles of Buddhist thought. What textual warrants exist for such a direction? This article represents an attempt to trace the presence of humanistic values in one selection from the rich heritage of Buddhist writings, the Lotus Sutra, and to determine whether such elements represent strategies of skill (upaya) alone, or also arise from the core values underlying the work. |
