The construction of cave 272 were contributed to the clear conceptive idea of The Lotus Sǔtra in which a big lotus painted on the ceiling of the cave represent the true nature of Buddhist Law. It was traditional way in Buddhist art that of the lotus is representative of the Buddhist Law. The same case of the representation of Buddhist Law in lotus on ceiling can be find not only in Dunhuang Cave, but at construction of The longmen Grottoes and The Yungang Grottoes as well.
