| 摘要 | In this paper we have presented a formal way of showing the connections between three major developments in ancient Indian logic. Beginning by depicting the logical content of the Trairūpya doctrine in the shape of a 2-by-2-matrix, we show how two subsequent refinements of this basic matrix leads to Dignāga’s Hetucakra (depicted as a 3-by-3-matrix) and Uddyotakara’s theory, displayed as 4-by-4-matrix. This leads us to identify quickly the problematic case of Uddyotakara’s classification, namely his position U15 which does not comply to the Trairūpya doctrine. |
