摘要
The objectives of this book are twofold: Firstly, the author hopes to dispel some of the confusion of thought regarding the relation of Buddhism to Christianity. On this subject, the translation of "The Awakening Faith in the Mahayana School" throws the most important light. Secondly, he hopes to show that in "The Essence of the Lotus Scripture", as interpreted by Chinese and Japanese "initiated" Buddhists, we find the same teaching as in the Gospel of St. John in regard to life, light and love, a teaching which forms a wonderful bridge crossing the chasm between Eastern and Western religion and civilization.
