| 摘要 | The ethnic problem in Sri Lanka has a long history. It has now been transformed into a demand for a separate state. As a result，there has been continuous conflict but a lasting solution has eluded everybody. This perhaps is the biggest problem that Sri Lanka faces today. The problem has also taken international dimensions. It will be clear that the current conflict has economic issues as its main cause. It is therefore incumbent on everybody to come together and make a concerted effort to remove this cause that has been the biggest source of irritation to all communities. Economic development will give everyone a sense of expectation. They will be hopeful if they can see some light at the end of the tunnel but the converse can only result in despair and discord. |
