| 摘要 | Forgiveness has been encouraged for thousands of years by major religions of the Western world. Adherents of those religions have claimed that forgiveness yields numerous emotional and spiritual benefits, capable of transforming one's life. Despite such claims, social scientists have only within the last 15 years begun to develop theoretical models and to conduct empirical studies on forgiveness within the field of marriage and family therapy. Thus, the purpose of this study was, within psychological rubric, to articulate an expanded and coherent cross-disciplinary psychological model of forgiveness. A critical review of the literature containing theological, philosophical, and psychological backgrounds of the topic examined the uses of forgiveness within its historical context and ideological development. The theoretical foundation for the study was ecosystems theory, which was married with cognitive, behavioral, and insight-oriented theories, especially as they intersect with marital and family therapy. The study addressed the psychology of forgiveness in pastoral care, Heider's theories, human value systems, moral development, counseling and clinical psychology, personality and social psychology, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, and contextual family therapy. Forgiveness was related to specific critical events germane to psychotherapy, such as marital and family therapy, anger, sexual addiction, and marital discord. An expanded model of forgiveness for family systems theory and practice was postulated. |
