| 摘要 | A work representative of the Tathagatagarbha school of thought in Mahayana Buddhism，this treatise gives a systematic exposition of the concept that the potential for becoming a buddha is inherent even in ordinary human beings. It includes many quotations from sutras dealing with this idea, and is thus an important key to an understanding of the early stages in the development of the theory of tathagata-garbha ('Womb/ Embryo of the Tathagata').
The author is not mentioned in the work itself，but according to the Chinese tradition it was composed by Saramati，whereas the Tibetan tradition gives Maitreya as the author of the verses and Asanga as the author of the prose commentary. |
