| 摘要 | This article focuses on the multi-dimensional correlations between Chinese musical features and cosmological/natural phenomena. After a brief discussion of the spread of Chinese music to Japan, the symbolism of Confucian, Taoist, and Buddhist ideology are considered. The meaning assigned to modes and tuning in ancient China are then reviewed. The article reproduces three A charts prepared by other scholars, showing 154 correlations in Chinese music. Finally, the author makes suggestions for future research, including questions conceming China’s role in the formulation of the music of its neighbors. |
