| 摘要 | In trying to build a bridge between a radical behaviorist view of psychology and mystical oriental approaches to experience, the following points are confronted: 1) The monist view of man's behavior as the outcome of past and present interchanges between organism and environment in Skinner, and the Buddhist notion of a world in constant transformation, yet remaining one in time and space; 2) selection by consequences as the principle of reinforcement in Skinner and the Buddhist notion of karma and 3) the abolition of the self as an inner autonomous agent in Skinner's writings and the annihilation of the ego aimed at by several Buddhist practices. The possible compatibility of these scientific and mystical views of experience is advanced and possible cultural consequences of the incorporation of Buddhist practices into our occidental ways are glimpsed at. |
