| 摘要 | The fundamental claim of this book is that religion is fully a rational activity. Drawing heavily on Kant's ethics and philosophy of religion,as well as the work of recent moral philosophers, I contend that the difficult problem of conflict between prudential and moral reason can be resolved by the postulation of a series of morally informed religious beliefs. These beliefs address the issues of moral retribution and moral self-condemnation,and they involve a complex structure of related conceptions. In a lengthy second part, this structure is utilized to analyze four religious traditions:Judaism,Christianity,Hinduism and Buddhism. |
