| 摘要 | The ultimate reality is nirvana for Buddhism，long life for Taoism，and individual perfection and harmonious social order for Confucianism/Neo-Confucianism. While Taoism insists that long life can only be attained by following nature，Confucianism holds that sagehood can be achieved by living up to "Jen"，the golden mean within this world. The world should be completely transformed into the supreme perfection，the heavenly "Tao" consisting in individual exhaustion of one's nature in peace and harmony. It is in the cosmic order or the universe that man has found his own level. |
