| 摘要 | The Buddhist monk Lcang-skya Rol-pai-rdo-rje was an important figure at the Ching court,a close confidant of the Chien-lung emperor, and a pivotal intermediary between the emperor and Inner Asia. Lcang-skya's presence at the Ching court was crucial in developing friendly relations between the Ching monarchs and Tibetan Buddhist dignitaries, and his relationship with Chien-lung influenced the finalization of Ching policy toward Tibet. Lcang-skya's personal relationship with the emperor influenced delicate policy-making; he contributed to strengthening, not weakening, the rule and country that enabled his religion to flourish and his people to live more or less peacefully. In his role as an intermediary in a complex situation,he did his utmost to win a powerful patron of Buddhism and to stabilize Tibet's internal politics. In trying to make a synthesis of different cultures, he achieved more successes at the Ching court than any other Buddhist. |
