| 摘要 | During the 1970's, a central concern of Japanese society became questions concerning environmental degradation and threats to the quality of human life caused by industrial dynamism. After surveying the Japanese ecological situation and Japanese intellectual responses to it，I examine two Japanese values that may serve as depth categories of an ecological ethic，for both the Japanese，and possibly，others. "wabi"，exemplified in Zen Buddhism，points to a life path of voluntary simplicity and was manifest in tea culture; "amae" is a concept of love stressing interdependence. |
