Four saints--Augustine,Ghazali,Sankara, Nagarjuna, as representatives of Christianity,Islam,Hinduism,and Buddhism--are brought into colloquy with each other and with the modern inquirer concerning the possibility and limits of religious and interreligious understanding. The argument examines correspondent truthfulness, epistemic virtues, (love,faith, purity,humility),perception and conception,subjectivity and objectivity,understanding and undergoing,adherence and nonadherence,and contexts of learning (about) god the father of Jesus Christ,Allah, Brahman,and emptiness.
