| 摘要 | The pagoda Thien Phuc Tu (Heavenly Blessing Pagoda),better known as Chua Thay (Master's Pagoda),near Hanoi,Vietnam,is discussed. It is an example of the Vietnamese village Chua or Buddhist pagoda, located in a tranquil site and used for prayer and meditation. The pagoda was first built in January 1058 under the aegis of King Ly Thanh Tong (1054-1072),during a vibrant period in the history of Buddhism in Vietnam. The pagoda has undergone several rehabilitation and expansion works during its history, but its present layout generally conforms to that of traditional Vietnamese pagodas. The building is a repository for a wide variety of Buddhist statues, many of which date from 17th-century reconstructions. Various sculptures are described. |
