| 摘要 | Images of Ganesh in Southeast Asia are discussed. In ancient Southeast Asia, Ganesh was an important deity，and some of the most unusual and spectacular images come from the area that today consists of Burma, Thailand，Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam，and Indonesia. Several sites in mainland Southeast Asia in the second half of the sixth to the seventh century featured the earliest Ganesh images, in such places as Tuol Pheak Kin in contemporary Cambodia. Although Ganesh generally appears in the context of Hinduism，he is used in Indonesia in Buddhist Tantricism，even existing where Theravada Buddhism has finally triumphed，in post-13th-century Burma, Thailand，and Cambodia. He appears predominantly in his role as protector and guardian and is also frequently found in relation to Shiva, although as a separate entity rather than as a son. |
