| 摘要 | A late-tenth-century Khmer stele of a Buddhist trinity from Cambodia now at the Honolulu Academy of Art is discussed. Depicting Buddha, Prajnaparamita, and Avalokitesvara, the bas-relief is noteworthy due to both the rarity of tenth-century imagery and to the presence of Prajnaparamita in the Buddhist trinity. Stylistic analysis affirms the dating of the piece, while tenth-century Khmer inscriptions confirm that the female deity depicted on the stele is indeed Prajnaparamita. Further analyses of the stele reveal that it represents the triratna or the three jewels of Buddhism:Buddha, dharma, and sangha--the female deity personifying the jewel of dharma. |
