| 摘要 | I reflect on a puzzle about Nietzsche's discussion of Asian philosophy. He identified Buddhism as a "kindred" Indo-European religion and worried that Indo-European grammar shapes thought. Yet he seldom reflected about Chinese thought. Chinese language should have been an interesting "other" for Nietzsche. Obvious affinities link Nietzsche and the Daoist thinker，Zhuangzi. My implicit solution is simply that Nietzsche simply had no access to philosophically sensitive interpretations of Chinese thought. I reflect on some of the features of pre-Buddhist Chinese philosophy，especially of Daoism，that "should have" appealed to Nietzsche. I also note some divergences-- Nietzsche's own，residual，Christianity/Buddhism. |
