| 摘要 | The author attempts to make an accommodation between religious experience and critical thought. After defining in some detail the terms "critical thought" and "religion," Reinsmith suggests that there is a positive role for critical thinking within the religious domain other than the traditional adversarial one. Using Buddhist meditation practice as an example he shows how the activities of observation，mindfulness and，healthy doubt can work to foster authentic religious development in a sincere practitioner. Reinsmith concludes that to remain free of delusion，religious experience must incorporate critical thought as a cleansing tool，while critical thought needs religion to understand it's higher usefulness. |
