| 摘要 | This series of essays reviews Babbitt's application of European humanistic standards to problems which beset educational and political thought during America's progressive era. His prescription of a cultural decorum uniting Aristotelian tradition with Confucianism and Buddhism is also examined. This study concludes that while Babbitt's humanism was too aristocratic and exacting to secure general acceptance，its perspective on educational and political issues continues to impose a contemporary and critical relevance. |
