| 摘要 | The author analyzes the ethical decision making for the care of imperiled newborns in Japan. Due to the socio-cultural value system formed in the traditional ethos of Confucianism and Buddhism，Japanese physicians are usually regarded as practitioners of "the art of Jin (the Confucian notion of benevolence)" in the framework of professional paternalism. However，it is not dictatorial; some sense of "shared responsibility" goes into making decisions. |
