| 摘要 | Sartre's theory of consciousness and Hui-neng's doctrine of no mind are remarkably similar in their characterization of consciousness as a nothingness and in their conclusion that the "self" lies outside consciousness. For Sartre，however，consciousness strives to rejoin the self thus rendering man a useless passion. For the founder of Zen，on the other hand，these insights release consciousness from its fascination with the self，thus allowing it to act spontaneously without goal and without anguish. |
