| 摘要 | This article explores the historical background of social and political activism among Buddhists in Ladakh in an attempt to present a framework for understanding recent agitation for local autonomy in the region. The identification of Buddhists with Ladakh is emphasised as a crucial practice of social identification which continues to inform present political performance in Ladakh. How the identification of a special relationship between Buddhists and Ladakh was constructed and how this identification gained a political resonance are the main questions which are dealt with in the article. Taking as its point of departure the first representations of Ladakh Buddhists as a coherent, stable community, the article investigates the conditions which made such representation possible in the first place. The inscription of Ladakh into colonial/state administrative frameworks is one aspect of this process. Another aspect is the establishment of contacts between Protestant Buddhists in Kashmir and Buddhists in Ladakh which facilitated the imagining of Ladakh as a Buddhist nation. The article concludes that the evocation of Buddhism as a vehicle for social identification in Ladakh will continue to carry relevance as it is tied to larger processes of distribution of resources and classification of people which will become even more complex in the future due to globalisation and the diminishing power of intervening agencies such as the distributive state. L'article explore l'arrière-plan historique de l'activisme social et politique observable chez les bouddhistes du Ladakh. Ce cadrage permet de comprendre l'agitation récente qui s'est produite dans la région autour de la question de autonomie locale. L'identification au Ladakh est présentée comme un élément crucial de l'identité sociale des bouddhistes ; à l'heure actuelle, elle continue à informer l'action politique au Ladakh. Ce texte montre comment cette identité, construite à partir d'une relation particulière entre les bouddhistes et le Ladakh, a fini par acquérir une résonance politique. Partant des origines et des toutes premières représentations des bouddhistes en tant que communauté cohérente et stable, l'article analyse les conditions qui ont permis à ces représentations de voir le jour. L'inscription du Ladakh dans le cadre administratif d'un Etat colonial expliquerait en partie ce processus. Un autre de ses aspects serait l'établissement de contacts entre les bouddhistes protestants du Cachemir et les bouddhistes du Ladakh, contacts qui auraient favorisé la représentation de ce dernier en tant que nation bouddhiste. En conclusion, l'article suggère que le recours au bouddhisme en tant que véhicule d'identité sociale est appelé à conserver une certaine pertinence dans la mesure où il est lié à des processus plus larges de distribution de ressources et de classification des populations, processus qui, à l'avenir, iront en se complexifiant en raison de l'avancée de la globalisation et du déclin du pouvoir d'intervention d'agences telles que l'Etat providence. Este acercamiento hace posible comprender la agitación reciente que se ha producido en la región en torno a la autonomía local. La identificación a Ladakh es presentada como un elemento crucial de la identidad social budista; actualmente, esta identificación mediatiza la acción política en Ladakh.
