| 摘要 | This dissertation considers the thesis that a sharp separation of religion and revelation is an inadequate approach to missiology, because it fails to take seriously issues of context and religious pluralism. The dissertation looks at the missiological method of Hendrik Kraemer. Kraemer defines religions has human-made all-inclusive systems that address the question: 'how do we understand, and respond to God and God's world? Revelation is God's attempt to make Himself understood specifically and exclusively in Jesus Christ. The views are the foundation on which Kraemer builds a missiology to address how Christians reach out to the world. The dissertation also shows how Kraemer's approach in turn affected the methodology to create an indigenous theology in South Asia. It looks at the work of Lynn de Silva and M. M. Thomas. De Silva borrows Buddhist concepts to create a Christian theology in Sri Lanka. He believes his theology would both articulate Christian theology in a manner more accessible to Sri Lankan Christians and also provide an apologetic that would be open to dialogue with Buddhism. M. M. Thomas adapts Kraemer's approach to address and participate in the dynamics that forged the Indian independence movement and the social justice movements in the new Indian nation. His approach is to identify such movements with Christ's activity in the world, claiming that movements that attempt to make the world more just and humane are a humanizing movement, initiated by the personification of what it is to be human, Jesus Christ. The dissertation shows how their wish to hold onto the Kraemerian approach cripples de Silva's and Thomas' work. The problem is that the Kraemerian understanding revelation and religion makes it impossible for the religions and cultural contexts they wish to address to define themselves on their own terms, or affect the Christian self-understanding or the understanding of God's revelation in Jesus Christ. This dissertation also looks at the theological work of Aloysuis Pieris and Lakshman Wickremesinghe. These men prefer not to work with Kraemer's assumptions and suggest different and more satisfactory ways of dealing with religion and revelation that take religious pluralism and context seriously. |
