| 摘要 | "In a Field Past the Rivers of Right and Wrong" is a collection of forty-three poems and a supporting essay by Kirby Dorothy. The collection of poems consists of both lyric and narrative work with themes ranging from childhood to fatherhood, from Christianity to Buddhism, and from self hatred to peace. The accompanying introductory essay describes both the forces that pushed him to write poetry and many of the craft elements employed in the poems. This introductory essay is intended not only to introduce the tradition and history of the author's life and work but to illustrate the usefulness of the free verse poet's tools. Attention is paid to issues of alliteration, amplification, cadence, meter, poetic syntax, and rhythm in the poet's work. "In a Field Past the Rivers of Right and Wrong" is presented to the University of Alaska Anchorage Department of Creative Writing and Literary Arts as part of the requirement for the Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing. |
