| 摘要 | This dissertation discusses how to heal shame in a Korean context based upon Heinz Kohut's self-psychology and Donald Eric Capps' pastoral theology. Chapter two provides a religious background of Koreans' shame experiences, focusing on Shamanism, Taoism, Buddhism, Confucianism and Christianity. Koreans' shame experience has been discussed in terms of Korean family system. The third chapter examines the contemporary theories of shame, focusing on interpersonal affect theory, developmental theory, and psychoanalytic theory in order to articulate the detrimental effects of shame upon human self and to propose how to restore the shamed self. The etiology of Koreans' shamed self has been diagnosed by Kohut's self-psychology. Chapter four provides a pastoral theology paradigm of healing shame based upon Donald Eric Capps. Capps diagnoses the etiology of defective self in terms of child abuse. Capps proposes, in terms of the “how” of healing shame, a pastoral theology of hope, the need for mirroring self-object, the need for autonomous self, the need for reframing, and the need for enlightened witness for an effective pastoral care and counseling in shame-based Korean context. Capps' methodology is individualistic and thus definitely applicable to Korean context. The fifth chapter investigates a methodology of healing disgrace shame in a Korean context. In order to heal fragmented or depleted self due to shame experience, the methodology of inner healing in a Korean context has been discussed, focusing on stages of human development, healing prayer as a pastoral means of grace, forgiveness, and community. It has been encouraged that Korean pastors will confront their own shame before healing shame through pastoral healing. Also it has been proposed that Korean churches sponsor support groups or workshops dealing with shame. |
