UPAU.32; This volume of proceedings presents papers by religion scholars, environmentalists, and others concerned with developing an environmental ethic in Southeast Asia based on the belief systems extant in the region. Representatives from six Southeast Asian countries and Sri Lanka participated, with Pmasiri de Silva of the philosophy department at Monash University providing the keynote paper on "Buddhist Perspectives on the Environmental Crisis: Comprehending the Maly and Exploring a Remedy." The volume concentrates on Buddhist perspectives and initiatives, but includes panels on Islamic, indigenous/highland peoples, and governmental perspectives/ initiatives. Also included is a 15 page annotated bibliography and a white paper, which emerged from the seminar containing a "code of environmental ethics" developed by the participants at the conclusion of the seminar.
