| 摘要 | The shomyo of the Obaku sect，the last of the Ch'an (Zen) sects transmitted to Japan，was introduced to Japan in 1654 by China; since then，it has been transmitted independently by other sects. Zenrinkaju，in its various editions, is the most important shomyo textbook. The earliest edition，based on the Chinese model，was published in the 1650s. Influenced by Chinese trends, this edition continued to be revised and enlarged until it coalesced in the 18th c.，and remains in use today. The current Zenrinkaju，published in 1936 and 1953，includes neumatic notation，a modification of noh notation. Since 1959 the notated text for the shomyo text has included additional marks indicating the rhythm of each percussion instrument. This notation is often presumed to be based on the current Zenrinkaju，but more closely resembles that of Chinese texts. Bussosan'yoshu，another Obaku text published by a branch temple in 1939，appears to have served as the mediator between these two texts, as its notation closely resembles that of the Chinese textbooks. |
