| 摘要 | Two epistles, or "message letters", one to a king and one to a disciple, awaken the possibility or realization.
Includes Tibetan text and Sanskrit transliteration on facing pages, and facsimile of a palmleaf manuscript. From "The Letter to a Disciple": There are no rivers on whose banks we have not already enjoyed ourselves; there is no place on earth where we have not already dwelt; there is no rank even in heaven that we have not already attained. An yet, despite all this, human desire, so difficult to fulfill, continues to grow. There is no suffering that we have not experienced many time before; there are no objects of desire that have ever satisfied us here on earth; there is no being in whose womb we have not already dwelt. How is it possible that despite all this, beings in samsara have not freed themselves from passionate attachment? |
