| 摘要 | This article discusses the difference and the relationship between various texts of the Yin-i 音義, Annotations to the Chinese version of the Buddhist Tripitaka by Hsüan-ying 玄応, by collating the editions extant in China, Japan, Korea, England and France. By explaining the following four points: 1) a revision by a later hand which the text has undergone; 2) a second revision of the text; 3) the circumstances under which the Glosses were established; and 4) the various editions considered from variants of fan-ch'ieh, the writer has proved that it is necessary for the study of the Annotation to reconstruct the original form of Hsüan-ying's work, as the prevailing texts were revised by later scholars. Professor Chou Fa-kao 周法高's "Hsüan-ying's Fan-ch'ieh table 玄応反切字表" is regarded as authoritative in the study of Hsüan-ying's Annotation, but there are some imperfections in his study of the text. Among the existing editions, those preserved in Japan such as the manuscript written during Daiji 大治 era (1126-1131), the manuscript in the Heian Period, the text in the possession of the Hiroshima University and that in the possession of the Tenri Library, as well as those found in Tun-huang in the collections of Stein and Pelliot, are relatively close to the original text. The text in the Koryo Edition of the Tripitaka 高麗大蔵経 comes next, but a few fascicles are revisions by later hands. The Annotations by Hsüan-ying incorporated in Hui-lin 慧琳's commentary to the Tripitaka contain two kinds of fascicles, those based on the already revised text and those based on Hsüan-ying's original, but both of them were amended by Hui-lin. Generally speaking, however, these texts mentioned above are of the same lineage. The texts published in and after the Sung Period such as the Chih-sha-ts'ang-ching 磧砂蔵経 text and that in Ts'ung- shu-chi-ch'êng 叢書集成 collection include so many alterations and additions that then are quite different from the original. Chou Fa-kao is wrong in having based himself on the text in Ts'ung-shu-chi-ch'êng Collection, especially in his study of fan-ch'ieh. The fact that such revisions were made is supposed to be due to later scholars who regretted that Hsüan-ying died soon after he had finished his rough draft and that he had no time to examine his manuscript. Hsüan-ying's annotations to the Tripitaka occupy an important place in the historical study of the Chinese language and the writer has tried to conduct a fundamental textual study. |
