| 摘要 | Deals with the history of the shakuhachi from ca. 600 A.D. until the present concentrating on the history of the Fuke-shu (a branch of the Rinzai sect of Zen Buddhism) and the Kinko-ryu (secular school of shakuhachi playing founded by Kurosawa Kinko ca. 1750). Describes gaikyoku，the non-religious music which was added to the shakuhachi repertory in the 19th c. Investigates in detail the musical material of zokugaku，the insenpo (in-scale) and shows the timbre structure (meri-kari structure) of this scale. Analyzes the melodic movement in insenpo and the technique of modulation. A description of honkyoku，the old solo music of the shakuhachi，shows the principle of in and yo (Chinese：yin-yang) in the construction of the phrases. The next section discusses the dual tonality of honkyoku and the important concepts of fukikata and kangaekata of honkyoku. A description and evaluation of the teaching process is included. |
