| 摘要 | Buddhism has played a major role in Korean culture since its introduction into that country in the fourth century A.D. The basic nature of Korean music can best be found by examining the spiritual roots of this music in the archaic Buddhist chant. A general introduction to Korean Buddhist rites is provided，and the long solemn chant，pomp'ae，is analyzed，concentrating upon the hossori and chissori performance styles. |
