| 摘要 | The research for this article was collected in 1986 during a two and a half month stay near the Tibetan Buddhist Monastery of Nechung in Dharamsala, India. The Nechung Monastery, besides being the home of the Tibetan exiled government's state oracle, is also well known for the high quality of its ritual music. In this paper, I will discuss aspects of dung chen playing specifically associated with the Nechung tradition, including pedagogy, notation, playing techniques, and the aesthetic ideal. For the sake of clarity, I have taken my examples from the dung chen's solo literature instead of the much larger body of work in which the dung chen plays with the entire ritual ensemble. I gratefully acknowledge Tenzin Choephel, the dung chen teacher at Nechung Monastery, for providing the information which is the basis of this article. |
