| 摘要 | Caves Nos. 268,272,275 of Mo-Kao K'u are the earliest of the existing cave temples in Tun-huang. In the past these caves were supposed to have been built after Tun-huang was taken over by Northern Weir in 445A.D. It has, however, been proposed recently that these grottoes were built during the period 421-429 A.D. This new dating, in the author's view, is questionable. Although this group of cave temples have a close relation in respect of drawing techniques to certain early cave temples in Sinkiang, in other respects, they resemble the Yun-kang cave temples of the second period. Resemblance does not necessarily imply identity because there remains the problem of which influenced. Which. The one that influenced must be earlier than the one which was influenced. From the point of view of historical background,it can only be Yun-kang that influenced Mo-kao. As Yun-kang is far removed from Mo-kao,it must have taken considerable time for the influence to reach Mo-kao. It is therefore possible to see a number of the features of the second period of Yun-kang in the Mo-kao cave temples. The author concludes that the cave temples under discussion were built during the period extending from the years when No. 9,10 of Yun-kang were built (i.e. 484-489 A.D.) to year when Northern Wei moved their capital to Lo-yang(i.e., 500 A.D.). |
