| 摘要 | A review of an exhibition of work by Shin-il Kim at Saltworks Gallery，Atlanta, from October 5 to November 16，2002. Kim's video installations employ line and simple action to investigate the self and its relationship to the world，challenging the Cartesian duality between idea and matter，soul and body. The show's subtlest and most powerful piece is Bow，featuring an animated contour of Kim's body bowing，created from nearly 500 pressed line drawings and projected onto a wall-sized blank canvas. This work is informed by the Buddhist concept that self is sublimated to surrounding forces. |
