| 摘要 | An exhibition of the Manuscript d'Or is taking place at the Musée National des Arts Asiatiques-Guimet in Paris through February 24, 2003. The exhibition centers on the Manuscript d'Or, a 17th-century illuminated manuscript written in gold letters on paper darkened with charcoal, which recounts the secret visions of the 5th Dalai Lama. In these visions, the highest authorities of the Tibetan Buddhist pantheon appeared to provide the Dalai Lama with an extremely secret education, marked by revelations so shocking that their contents were kept hidden. The illustrations represent all the necessary objects to correctly carry out the public or private rites associated with the deities that visited the 5th Dalai Lama, such as the mandala—sacred circles that represent the universe into which followers are invited to enter through meditation to transcend the alienating dualities that prevent them from merging with the universal Being. |
