| 摘要 | A review of an exhibition of sculptures by Sanford Biggers at the Berkeley Art Museum,California. Biggers is a young African-American artist who recontextualizes second-hand objects that reference Black history and popular culture. He does not uphold clear trajectories of lineage in his work, creating instead new icons of meaning that emerge from the collision of disparate traditions. His sculptures blend elements of Buddhist philosophy,African spirituality and New Age mysticism but contain an element of humor and refuse to take themselves too seriously. |
