摘要
Buddhist women receive little in the way of mentoring to lead and grow their communities. Be it guiding newly ordained nuns on how to establish their communities, drawing up a set of best practices for lay board members, or establishing community consensus on the purchase of property, Buddhist women often lack direct experience and confidence in managing their organizations.
In this workshop, we will identify dreams, develop projects, and expand our networks by using our inner mental and outer social resources. Using guided meditation and discussion, we will put to use tools that will help us cultivate the Dharma and bring forth a good harvest. We will cover the topics of project conception, development, prioritization, delegation, completion, and promotion. Just as a bodhi tree is composed of roots, fiber, branches, and leaves, so a Buddhist organization is well anchored, strong, flexible, and beneficial. We will work to identify our inner and outer maras or fears. The point will not be to overcome them, but to stay in balance by being able to clearly distinguish between impulsiveness and inertia.
The intent of this workshop is to bring forth the invisible bodhi seed that is in each one of us, strengthen it, and help it to flourish for the well being of our greater community of laymen and laywomen. Through a series of exercises, we will discover the ability to dream and the ability to carry out the dream that is already within us. As we work together to plant the seeds of good intentions, good speech, and good actions, we will find how the world responds and fortifies that effort.
