| 摘要 | The internet has become a primary source of news, information, history, texts and teachings for Buddhists around the world. The internet is not only a resource, but connects us in a new way, potentially knitting Buddhist women together as a one-world community. This workshop will introduce website managers from Sakyadhita’s national branches and other interested participants to the Sakyadhita website: its structure, aims and plans for expansion. The workshop will include a discussion of what makes a good website, based on industry standards and recent research into user habits; what web managers can do to optimize smooth functioning of their websites; and ways to help search engines accurately catalog website content. Further, using internet access, workshop participants will view some of the thousands of Buddhist websites and consider criteria for evaluating their effectiveness. Finally, participants will get hands-on experience in website planning by starting layouts for their branch websites. They will receive resources for website development in the form of handouts, recommendations for web-building software and tutorials, and instructions for using the online templates and resources soon to be available on the Sakyadhita website. |
