| 摘要 | The Shangpa Kagyu lineage is based on the profound teachings of two Indian women, Niguma and Sukasiddhi. The lineage originated during the eleventh century with Kyungpo Nalijor, a Tibetan master who travelled to India seven times to receive teachings from 150 different masters, four of whom he considered to be very significant. There were also two wisdom dakinis, Niguma and Sukasiddhi (the root master of 10 other masters), who had attained the rainbow body; they provided his primary inspiration. The lineage is now epitomized by Bokar Tulku, head of the lineage after Kalu Rinpoche left the body in 1989. Niguma's teachings make up the bulk of the Shangpa instruction meditation practices, but it is Sukasiddhi who holds a central position and who bestowed Kyungpo Nalijor with many transmissions. She became his secret consort and granted every empowerment, and also gave profound instruction in meditation. Sukasiddhi was herself 61 years old when she received empowerment and instruction from Virupa and attained full Enlightenment, in the same evening. Her experiences along with that of Niguma represents a different template for a higher level of realization than usually associated with Dharma practice. Both taught the Great Seal and a series of meditations called the six doctrines (each different from the other and also different from the Marpa instruction lineage). Sukasiddhi kept her promise to provide the instructions to meditators of future generations in order for them to gain accomplishments from the secret meditation she taught. Timeless Rapture offers an overview of the history of the Shangpa lineage in Tibet, short descriptions of each poet's life and also inspired and spontaneous verse and vajra songs of praise. This compendium is now available in English to support the activities of advanced students of Tibetan Buddhism, particularly those with significant contemplative experience.
