Abatract: Jigongshan Grotto has only one well-preserved cave, but the latter is rich in contents, including an inscription dated in the fifth year of Huichang (845). The subjects provide valuable data for the study of Buddhist images: they include the 16 Meditations of Queen Vaidehī, Ma囗jus rī Bodhisattva riding on a lion; Samantabhadra Bodhisattva riding on an elephant; and the Buddha accompanied by fifty Bodhisattvas. This report offers detailed information based on a thorough investigation of the site.
