《弘明集》是中國佛教歷史上第一部護法弘教的文獻匯編,是研究初傳時期佛教中國化和三教關系的重要史料。本文主要以《弘明集》為限,研究狹義的“夷夏之辨”對早期佛教中國化的影響。 全文共分三部分。第一部分對中國傳統社會的“夷夏之辨”進行梳理,其主要內容包括“夷夏有別”和“夷夏一家”兩個命題,從而形成“用夏變夷”和“夷夏互變”兩個方法論原則,就其本質而言是“人禽之辨”。第二部分,闡述《弘明集》中圍繞“夷夏之辯”展開的的排佛與護佛之爭。第三部分,剖析“夷夏之辯”對佛教中國化的影響。 Only in comparision with civilized another civilization or more civilized systems of reference, can one civilization discover itself strengths and weaknesses.
