| 摘要 | This study examined how karma impacts students' learning style preference among grade 11 science and non-science academic stream students in New Delhi. The research was conducted in Mount Carmel School in New Delhi, India during the 1999–2000 academic year. Quantitative statistical techniques, qualitative methods, and an analysis of the results in light of the majority religious culture were utilized for this study. The research revealed that the value placed on science academic stream students effected students' desire for a field independent learning style. It also established that the value and expectations placed on female students effected their learning styles. There were no significant differences when comparisons were made by gender, family income, and religion. The preference for students using a field independent style was analyzed, and the Hindu of concept karma, had an influence on students beliefs. The field independent student receives much encouragement by school and family and the cultural bias in favor of students with a field independent style can be traced to the Hindu belief in a superior Higher Knowledge which would fall into the science academic stream. |
