| 摘要 | This study presents a comparison of the erotic iconography and meditations found in Tibetan Buddhist Mahamudra practices with classical Jungian psychology. An historical survey of the Vajrayana's emergence is followed by a presentation of the erotic imagery and associated meditations of Vajradhara, Vajrasattva, Heruka and Vajrayogini in terms of their traditional meaning and function in the Six Yogas of Naropa. As groundwork for a comparative discussion with the Tantric model Jung's conception of ego, Self, the ego/Self axis, and libido are presented in terms of the process of individuation and the nature of psychological suffering. Jung's views of the relation of metaphysics to the unconscious is discussed as descriptive of his psychological contextualization of content such as found in Buddhist Tantra. A comparative study shows significant congruences that includes similar conceptualizations of: the cyclical nature of human suffering; Bodhicitta motivation and the inherent drive towards individuation; the identity of prana and libido; the role of instincts and the body in psycho/spiritual development. Parallel dynamics are found in terms of the relativizing of ego along with the ego's conscious connection with Self as central to the process of individuation, Self realization and Buddhist enlightenment. The Six Yogas of Naropa are further explored as representative of a six stage developmental progression of methods, insights, and subjective experiences characterizing an approach to Self realization. Suggestions are made for potential clinical applications of the Six Yogas of Naropa in transpersonal psychotherapy. |
