| 摘要 | This is a brief research of the history of Buddhism in Vietnam from the first century to the eighteenth century. Vietnam was under Chinese domination during the first millennium. Therefore, social, cultural, economic backgrounds of Vietnam at the time were deeply impacted by Chinese. However, it is very surprising to find that Vietnamese Buddhism developed independently from Chinese influence and integrated into the country's mainstream sophisticatedly and practically. The study has three purposes. Firstly, it aims at determining the origin of Buddhism in Vietnam, where and when it first came to the country. Secondly, it focuses on the unique features, and finally, the role, and influences of Buddhism in the development of the nation of Vietnam as well. |
