| 摘要 | The purpose of this study is to investigate how the Buddhism influences the professional development of an elementary mathematics teacher, Mrs. Chen. The main methodology are classroom observations, interviews and documents collecting. The school in which Mrs. Chen is teaching is implementing a new elementary mathematics curriculum. Under the interactions between the Buddhism ideology and the new curriculum, the results of my research contain these three parts: First, the educational rationale of Mrs. Chen is deeply influenced by Buddhism; it changes from "teaching students the knowledge in the books" into "teaching students how to behave well." Her educational purpose changes from teaching student to learn well the contents of the curriculum into opening up students' wisdom and reinstating students' nature of enlightenment. Secondly, under the agreement of the Buddhism ideology and the new curriculum, Mrs. Chen made great changes in the methods and purpose of mathematics teaching, and the purpose of evaluation. Thirdly, Buddhism puts emphasis on that"revision of one's behaviors depends on individual comprehension" and that's why Mrs. Chen hardly adopt group discussion in her math classroom in spite of the fact that it is emphasized in the new curriculum. According to research results, we bring out some suggestions on teacher education. |
