| 摘要 | This Thesis is the report of research on the Status of Women in Buddhism. The aim of this research-work is to study the women's rights in the time previous to the Buddhist period and in the Buddhist period relating to equality of women. Really speaking, the difference between male & female is only gender. Anyway, wisdom and ability to realization of Dhamma are the same. In the Buddhist period, for example, there were a large number of both men and women who renounced the world and became noble-men and noble-women. By comparatively study on the status of women in Pre-Buddha Time and in the Buddha Time, it is clear that the influence of Buddhism to the status of women positively increases more. So this thesis is an attempt to collect different attitudes on women from Buddhist texts and Brahmanic texts. First of all, the status of women in the Pre-Buddha time is discussed. Then, the permission of women to become Bhikkuni or ordained ladies is the most importance in the history of women of India and all over the world, Because the Buddha was the First Religious Founder who realized human right and equality. The Buddha accepts that women have ability and wisdom as equal as the man in realization of Nibbana. It may say that the Buddha is first leader who is the fighter for women's rights in the world. Buddhism emphasizes on right, duty, role and equality of women. It includes the words of the Buddha concerned with the protection of women in direct and indirect way. By thoroughly survey all Buddhist scriptures, Buddhism refers to women in the positive way more than negative way. Buddhism has played the role on spiritual freedom of women. Moreover, when we compare the role of women in Brahmanic society and Buddhist Society, It gives the clear image of women's rights and equality in Buddhism. There are some critique about female-exploitation in Buddhism such as no-permission of ordination for women in the first time. But later on women were permitted. In Buddhism, women are able to participate in all activities without exception. The Buddha has preached Dharma to both man and woman with clear understanding that the difference between male and female is meaningless and not important. By nature, all are friends in living and suffering. Feminine gender is the most honourable symbol as the mother of sons and daughters of the world. |
