| 摘要 | The article presents information on Confucianism, Daoism, Buddhism and understanding the necessity of the awareness of these religions while treating Chinese patients by healthcare professionals. Daoism is a philosophy which evolved naturally in the Chinese art of living. Early Daoist practitioners and priests were known for their longevity through their nutritional and physical exercises. Confucians are to some extent modern in their belief and expectations. Buddhism preaches the karma, which means one's action, and the cycle of reincarnation. Modern Western medicine sometimes failed to provide effective results to some elderly Chinese patients because they paid more attention to their positive health status and function than to a disease. |
